Introduction
Construction is underway on the Padmasambhava World Peace Temple, a sacred structure that will be the first of its kind in Canada. Located on the grounds of Orgyan Dzong Buddhist Retreat Centre at the foot of Ontario’s ancient Mount Moriah, the temple will enshrine a specially consecrated, 13-foot statue of Padmasambhava – revered by Tibetans as the Second Buddha. As a means to help counter the negative conditions of the current age and give rise to world peace, concerned spiritual groups are creating a radiant network of such Padmasambhava temples worldwide.

Our present age has been identified as a time of degeneration in ancient Buddhist teachings. Indeed, the past and present centuries have been marred by war, terrorism, poverty, natural disasters, environmental catastrophes and social upheaval. As a result, in 2002, H.H. the Dalai Lama determined to place 100,000 statues of Padmasambhava around the world. In conjunction with this vision, Venerable Khenpo Namdrol Rinpoche, a senior teacher of the Palyul lineage, initiated a project to have Nepalese artisans cast Padmasambhava statues of exceptional quality. His wish is to place these statues in powerful locations to dispel negativity and radiate great blessings, encouraging wisdom, compassion and love in the minds of all sentient beings.

Inspired by these two great masters, The Palyul Foundation of Canada has made the commitment to be part of this worldwide network of hope which will endure for generations to come by building the Padmasambhava World Peace Temple. We hope you also will be inspired to explore this project’s many facets, and consider supporting this unique undertaking through a tax-deductible contribution.
